StripedBass

Two foot long fish
Glinting silver black markings
Striking bold shape
Swimming furtively in the bathtub
Nervous
Glassy eyed stare
Looking for a way out
White perimeter closing in
Limiting
Preventing escape
We kids marveled at the unexpected sight
Uncle Tao beaming with pride
Striped bass trophy
Caught in the bay
Filling the tub
Lured
Trapped
Powerless
Enclosed in a pale green bathroom
Dim yellow lighting
Surreal habitat
Without freedom, possibility
Why do I feel sorrow for this creature?

Carole Chinn-Morales describes herself as “birthed as a Wild Heart Writer at age 70. Still continuing to honor Muse as IĀ find time to drop in.”
